Differences between Gen X and Gen Y

According to a study by Human Synergistics, it found that Generation X felt less valued in the office that Gen Y and the Baby Boomers. This report surveyed around 235,000 workers across 1500 organsiations about satisfaction in the workplace. 62% of Gen X noted having experienced unfulfilling relationships with work colleagues and 69% felt separated from the culture of their workplace.

Quentin Jones, the Australian Director of Human Synergistics said that these results are caused by a continued focus on Generation Y in the workplace. Sounds like siblings within a family when a new child is born. However, I think it shows the importance for companies to connect with individual's (whatever their generation) values and strengths with the purpose of the organisation to create motivation and meaning. Link an employee's strengths and values in the workplace and satisfaction increases.

Something to think about.
