yGen Launched

For young professionals

Some facts:
Generation Y employees are looking for:

  • dynamic learning opportunities to improve their skills
  • instant feedback on their abilities
  • connection with the latest technology
  • Social purpose and engagement with community

Generation Y employers who fulfill these expectations attract and retain the best young staff.

Alicia Curtis Leadership is facilitating an exclusive professional mentoring program specifically designed for Generation Y employees.

The yGen program is!

  • A skillfully facilitated, innovative mentoring program for Generation Y employees
  • Monthly sessions that bring together interesting, relevant and practical learning
    opportunities
  • A connection point between your staff with external top level speakers
  • An opportunity for young employees to network with people from a range of industries
  • A mastermind program which brings together young employees to overcome workplace challenges
and develops practical solutions for the workplace

The yGen program is not!

  • A normal boring training program
  • A set skills-training program that doesn’t meet the needs of participants
  • A lacklustre collection of lectures

Thought Leaders Winter Conference

Do you believe in the power of an idea?

I've just come back from Sydney after attending the Thought Leaders Winter conference "The Age of Ideas", which talked about how we can change the world with our ideas!!!

Some ideas presented at the conference that caught my eye:

Funky thinking by Anders Sorman-Nilsson.
The world has changed....have you changed your thinking too? Anders spoke about the need to update your thinking software. In particular, about the rise of the right brain thinking. (If you would like to know more about right brain and left brain thinking - talk to me about having your whole brain thinking assessment through the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument - it's very cool) Remember, our thinking determines our results!!

Information -> Knowledge -> Ideas -> by Geoff McDonald
Geoff spoke about the evolution of information. One idea of his that interested me was having a visual board of what you want your future to be like. We often have pin up boards of photos and images of our past but how many of us have one representing our future? I might just try this :)

Get Juiced Up by Helen MacDonald
Helen squeezed the creativity out of us by talking about how we can get juiced up on our ideas. She said it takes three things - No limits thinking, movement in any direction is better than no movement at all and constantly stretching yourself and your ideas.

Can our ideas change the world? Of course they can. Get your thinking cap out and think NO LIMITS!!

CAYPAKS International Conference 23rd - 25th July

The Children and Young People Are Key Stakeholders Conferences was recently held in Perth at the Sheraton. The purpose of the conference was to contribute to the understanding of children, young people and their families in the community and the factors that influence their wellbeing.

I was contracted to organise the Youth Day on the 23rd July. We had 50 young people attend and participate in a range of workshops. The morning workshops were all about building skills - these included leadership training, mind mapping, networking and public speaking. The afternoon included creative workshops around the main messages that young people wanted to say during the rest of the conference. The workshops included hip hop, drama, art and multimedia. Some of these messages included:

We(Young People) are approachable.
We want to know about you and we want you to know about us.
We are here, We are now and We matter, “Let our voices be heard”
Change is a process that we all have to be involved in.
We would rather be heard than seen.
How you affect us today, will affect us beyond tomorrow.

The rest of the conference went off without a hitch. There is a Facebook entry for the conference too if you're interested.
